When I contacted Expedia, they arranged for my refund which was fine but I then had to book another hotel, which I was not offered any discounts on as I had been given my refund. I had the hotel cancel three days before we were due to fly out. Awful company, I am never using them again and am considering taking action to be compensated for the flight I eventually took home. American Airlines was no space on the next flight (the one I had initially booked), so had I followed their plan, I would have been stuck. The international flight left before the (obviously delayed) domestic one had even landed. I had to book a new flight home at great personal expense and the schedule they tried to give me didn’t work. The staff obviously didn’t care that I could be stranded in a foreign country with no way of getting home and had an attitude with me when I complained about not being notified of the change. At one point they offered to call me back with a solution to the problem they caused, but they never did. They did not notify me of this, which they are required to do, and I called them repeatedly to be told that this can just happen and they couldn’t help me. This, given typical delays and the fact that airlines generally board 45mins before departure, made the chances of my return very slim. This occurred all the way back in April apparently. Expedia allowed American Airlines to alter this return trip, and move my booked flight to one that had a 1hr layover time. The outward trip had a realistic layover time (1hr 45mins), but I booked the return trip with a longer 3hr layover to give me some time to get through the airport to the international flight, as the domestic flights are known for being delayed in the area I was travelling to. I booked a return trip with Expedia to a town in the USA that required an internal (domestic) flight. Please do not book anything from the Expedia website, you are encouraging criminal activity.ĭon’t expect to get on the flights you actually booked. You could not have clearer evidence than I presented too them. Expedia are nothing short of petty criminals working with criminal car hire gangs. On return to the UK, they said after some 2 hours waiting they would refund, after 4 hours I receive an email saying they had changed their mind and would not refund the £173 paid at the desk. I phoned Expedia at the desk for an hour, they said pay and they would sort it out on my return to the UK. He insisted I buy for £173 more basic insurance, this time with a $1000 excess. When at desk, desk clerk insisted no insurance at all was included and if took car I was responsible for full cost of car and any damages to 3rd parties. I booked car hire in Mexico on the Expedia website, they advertised basic insurance included and sent my confirmation document showing I had 13 days car hire with full insurance included with a $350 dollar excess.
